Omayra Amaya's legacy is one of a deep and proud gypsy flamenco tradition. The daughter of Olga and Curro Amaya and grandniece of arguably the greatest Flamenco dancer who ever lived, Carmen Amaya, Omayra accepts the responsibility of her heritage with the same passion and uncontrolled vagrancy of Gypsy spirit as those of her lineage. Her daily exposure to the cultural roots of flamenco, with all of its subtleties and fervency, cultivated her innate love for the art and supplied the foundation of her style and technique.。

Omayra first appeared on stage with her parent’s company, often interrupting their performances. Her first choreographed role came at age twelve, when she performed as her father’s partner. By the time Omayra was fifteen, she was touring and performing internationally with her parents and performing with Rosario Galan and Antonio Santaella. Already a seasoned performer, Omayra sought to expand and enrich her art by studying other dance forms. She attended the Boston Conservatory where she received a BFA in Dance and Choreography.

· Established her own dance company, Amaya, Flamenco Limites in 1993.

· Being a faculty member of Boston Conservatory, the Bosten Ballet, Harvard University Dance Department, and Walnut Hill Performing Arts School.

· A PBS documentary film about her life: Gypsy Heart.

· She was an integral part of the award winning documentary Queen of the Gypsies, and the most comprehensive video portrait of Omayra’s legendary great aunt, Carmen Amaya.

· In 2004 Omayra was invited to perform by the “Asociacion Gitanan de Madrid” during a week of celebration of the Gypsy Culture of Spain in Madrid.

· In 2005 She was invited to perform at Festival Flamenco de Butarque de Leganes, Madrid.

· In 2006-2007, Omayra Amaya was invited to work as one of the choreographers with Franco Dragone, Director, and Sarah Miles to create the Musical Carmen which premiered at La Jolla Playhouse summer of 2007.

· Omayra performs a duet with Steve Martin in the Hollywood film, The Pink Panther II. The movie will premiere January 2009. To lean more: www.omayraamaya.com

出身於Flamenco重鎮Malaga,1999年起隨享譽國際的Carmen Mota佛拉明哥舞團世界巡迴,2005年起以Carmen Mota首席舞者之姿同時與其他舞團JOSE PORCEL, LUCIA Y CARMBORIO ,LUCIA DE REAL舞團有合約關係並持續巡迴各地演出.爾後與多位知名的Flamenco大師Rocio Molina, Antonio Canales, Israel galvan, Isabel Bayon, Ruben Olmos, Jose porcel, Jose Barrios合作演出並開始嘗試電視舞蹈節目的製作,目前仍持續各國巡迴,所到之處有法國,美國,義大利,中國大陸,埃及,荷蘭,韓國等

Leonor Leal Flamenco Dance Workshop in Hong Kong

Born in Jerez de la Frontera, Leonor Leal started dancing at the age of 9 and received her degree in classical ballet and Spanish dance from the Royal Academy and the Conservatory of Dance in Seville. She extended her training with flamenco maestros such as Manolo Marin, Angelita Gomez, Pepa Coral, Juan Parra, Ana Maria Lopez and La Chiqui among others.

Leonor’s professional career spans tablaos such as La Casa de la Memoria Andalusi, Corral de la Moreria, the dance companies of Anotonio El Pipa, Andres Marin and the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia of Cristina Hoyos. She has collaborated with known artists, among others El Grilo, Javier Baron and Angeles Gabaldon. Leonor has appeared in international flamenco festivals such as those of Berlin and Mont Marsan, and has just presented her solo in the Flamenco Festival de Jerez in March. She has received invitation to perform in the Bienal de Seville in September, the two most significant flamenco festivals in Spain that showcase outstanding contemporary flamenco artists.

In addition, Leonor is well known for her meticulous style in teaching flamenco in schools such as the Fundacion Cristina Heeren, the Fundacion de Museo de Baile Flamenco de Cristina Hoyos, the Centro de Actividades Flamencas de Antonio el Pipa, the Escuela de Isabel Bayon y Angel Atienza and the Andres Marin Flamenco Abierto as well as conducting flamenco workshops worldwide such as in Germany, France and Russia.

生於西班牙南部赫雷斯的Leonor Leal， 九歲開始習舞並於塞維利亞的皇家舞蹈學院及塞維利亞舞蹈學院分別取得古典芭蕾舞及西班牙舞蹈的學士學位。 其間又跟隨多位佛蘭明高舞蹈大師如Manolo Marin, Angelita Gomez, Pepa Coral, Juan Parra, Ana Maria Lopez, La Chiqui等精研舞藝。 Leonor以佛蘭明高專業舞者的身份加入多個重要舞團， 如Anotonio El Pipa, Andres Marin及Cristina Hoyos等，又與多位舞者如El Grilo, Javier Baron 及 Angeles Gabaldon經常聯手創作演出，她也常在各海內外佛蘭明高藝術節獻藝。在今年三月的赫雷斯佛蘭明高藝術節中擔演獨舞，備受公眾及舞評界讚譽， 亦將於九月份參與塞維利亞佛蘭明高雙年節的演出。 Leonor教學經驗豐富，於塞維利亞的多所專業舞蹈學校教授佛蘭明高舞蹈課程，足跡更遍及法國、德國、俄羅斯等地。

Carolina Vera was born in Madrid, Spain. She graduated from the “Real Professional Conservatory of Spanish Dance” in Madrid.

At the age of three she moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she started dancing at the age of six at the prestigious “Superior School of Classical ballet” at the “Theatre Colon” of Buenos Aires.
In addition to the official qualification, she intensified her studies with renowned ballet maestros like Gloria Kazda, Hector Figueredo (from the Cuban Ballet), Nela Frexas and Andrea Chinetti (in contemporary dance). She completed her formation with following piano lessons at the “National Conservatory of Music”, where she later graduated. There she also performed drama with the actress Cristina Banegas.

Her most influential teachers were: Mariemma, María Magdalena, la China, Merche Esmeralda, Yolanda Heredia the Farruco Family, la Farruca, Farruquito, el Farru, la Faraona, el Barullo (In Spain), Laura Manzella and Sibila (in Buenos Aires).
She has given flamenco workshops in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Santiago de Compostela, Genoa, Qatar, Jordan and Dubai. (2002-2006)

In 2004 and 2006 she was part of the ballet Al-Andaluz from Buenos Aires with whom she has danced in different flamenco shows: Sinfonia Española, Torrente Flamenco, Azabache y Luna, and Yerma.
She has performed in different tablaos: Tiempo de Gitanos, Cantares, Soleares and El Naranjo.

The workshop will be conducted for three levels of experience:

Level I: RUMBA (for students with flamenco knowledge from 3 to 6 months) Beginners are also welcome!!!

Level II: COLOMBIANAS CON ABANICO (fan) (for students with minimum 6 months to 1 year flamenco experience)

Level III: ALEGRIAS CON MANTON (shawl) for students with minimum 1 to 2 years of flamenco knowledge)

The levels are estimated, the students can try the levels they consider suitable with their own experience.

Flamenco Workshop with Javier Martos

Javier Martos, Bailaor and top teacher from prestigious flamenco school Escuela Carmen de las Cuevas in Granada, Spain.
Javier Martos is one of the top male dancers in Granada, Spain. Dancing since he was 9, he has completed advanced studies with teachers in Ballet, Classico Espanol and Flamenco. His flamenco teachers include Jaime Cala, Laura Mestre, Juan Carlos Lérida, Toleo, La Tani, Faraón, Cristóbal Reyes, Manuel Reyes, Mercedes Ruiz, and Manuel Liñán. Javier has performed and toured with some of Spain’s top companies such as “Compañía de Rafael Aguilar” and “Compañía de Maria Carrasco”. He has toured the world and performed in Japan, Korea, Australia, Iceland and Germany. He currently is director and choreographer for “Compañía Flamenco Amarí”. In addition, he dances with the prestigious guitarist Emilio Maya, is an official bailaor for Pena Plateria (an exclusive venue for flamenco) and Granada’s top tablao, Tablao Albayzin, with artists such as Víctor “Charico”, Antonio “Manzana”, and Fuensanta “la Moneta”.
